Jeep Makeover

We've had the Jeep now for about 4 years. It's been a GREAT vehicle. It's had the "normal" parts needed replaced (it is, after all, a '98) {well except for the driver side window and then of course there was the minor altercation with John's Coke, but that didn't really cause us to have to replace anything LOL} but one part that DID mess up caused a doozy of a problem:
The drainage tube for the air conditioner decided to malfunction and cause the water to drip back into the passenger side floorboard. John tinkered around with it, trying to fix the problem. Most of the solutions he found online suggested drilling a hole into the body of the Jeep, he didn't really want to take that route if there was another option. He tried running a coat hanger through the tube (only about an inch long) to see if there was a blockage, but found nothing. Finally, he discovered that the sealant around the tube was basically deteriorating, which was causing the wate…

Future Handler?

While at the Dog Show Saturday, McKayla "handled" a Chihuahua in the ring and "won" a ribbon. :-D
Well, that's not completely true nor is it all a lie either.
See, we went back at 5:30 for the Puppy Match. I wanted to watch my friend with her new co-owned Mantle girl in the ring but McKayla made a friend at the Toy Breed ring, so we ended up staying to watch. Afterwards, the little girl started giving McKayla tips on handling. First, we were just in the aisle but then moved to an empty ring. The little Chihuahua was an adorable little fluff ball and the grin on McKayla's face was priceless as she was playing dog handler.

Chattanooga Kennel Club Dog Show 2013

This past weekend was the Chattanooga Kennel Club's yearly dog show.

This time, I made it to Saturday's show, but NOT Sunday's (one day I'll make it both days LOL).

I got results for both days, but only pictures for Saturday, so this won't be the photo dump that last year's post was :-D (Okay, so after uploading 55+ pictures, I guess this IS another dog show photo dump....oops! LOL)

1st Day of Pre-K

(School as been in session for quite a few weeks now, so this post is slightly old. Just keep that in mind as you read along.)

Argh! I'm not ready!
McKayla is, however.
She's happy to start school and I guess that's the most important part.
She. Had. A. Blast!

Today (August. 14th) was only a half day with 3 other kids......basically a staggered day to get them used to school.

We signed her in this morning about 7:45. (John took today off just so he could go with me to take her. <3 ) Gave the Assistant Teacher, Ms. Keesha her extra set of clothes that stay in her class, watched Ms. Pam (her teacher) take her to wash her hands and then have her pick a letter to sit on in the Alphabet circle. Not a tear, a whimper or cry. She waved bye to us, grinning from ear to ear and we walked out the door.
Since it was a half day, we went back at 11:30 to pick her up. We were a few minutes early and since we didn't know exactly where to park, we found a parking spot and just waite…

Family Portrait

McKayla drew a family portrait the other day. Can you guess who is who? ;-)
You should be able to tell, seeing as how the resemblances are uncanny LOL, but I'll help you out just in case:
I'm first, Daddy is next (notice the hair? That's for his short hair LOL), then Chris (not sure why he has such long hair LOL) and then the little bitty one is, of course, McKayla.
I think she did a fantastic job! John, however, told her we all looked like Plankton and she said no, b/c Plankton has antenna and we don't. Haha.
Do we have a future Picasso in our midst? It's possible! ;-)

Monthly Measure 9/1

Bleh. I'm behind once again. Sept. 1st dawned with J working 1st shift, so he's out of the door by like 4:30 am.....I am NOT getting up that early just to be measured/weighed LOL. Next few days were a repeat of that and then a few days I felt like crap and slept longer than normal. Then when I was awake, I didn't even think about Monthly Measure. So I didn't actually measure/weigh until Sept. 8th but for my sake (haha) I have to label this the first of the month.......I'm sure you're not suprised by now. LOL

So, enough with the excuses, we'll get right to it. Shall we?:

Lost 2 lbs!
Gained an inch in my bust.
Lost an inch in my waist.
Stayed the same in my hips.

Isn't it funny how gaining a couple pounds can make you upset but losing just a couple makes you almost jump for joy? It's definitely a mind thing, I'm sure. LOL

I won't bore you with the normal dribble. I'm happy I lost 2 lbs and gained only an inch. Clothes ARE feeling loser, so…
On the morning of September 11, 2001, there was an unprecedented amount of activity at the Rainbow Bridge. Decisions had to be made. They had to be made quickly. And they were.
An issue, not often addressed here, is the fact that many residents really have no loved one for whom to wait for. Think of the pups who lived and died in hideous puppy mills. No one on Earth loved or protected them. What about the many who spent unhappy lives tied in backyards? And the ones who were abused. Who are they to wait for?
We don't talk about that much here. We share our loved ones as they arrive, happy to do so. But we all know there is nothing like having your very own person who thinks you are the most special pup in the Heavens.
Last Tuesday morning, a request rang out for pups not waiting for specific persons to volunteer for a special assignment. An eager, curious crowd surged excitedly forward, each pup wondering what the assignment would be. The were told by a solemn voice that unexpecte…

Sick Days

This may be a slightly whiney post, so if you don't want to listen (read?), just skip this, I wouldn't blame ya one bit. :-)
When you have a job, generally you get sick leave. I know not ALL employers provide it but quite a few do. It's a pretty sweet little deal.
Sometimes it's actual paid sick leave and other times it is just time off without a write-up, mark, disciplinary action or whatever you/they call it and sometimes your sick leave/vacation time is basically the same thing. (Of course, in a perfect world we wouldn't need sick days but, well, you know, we don't live in a perfect world. Shocker! I know. LOL.).
Have you ever felt so horrible that you couldn't move a finger, that even blinking could send you into waves of dizziness that you'd swear you were on a boat in a whirlpool?

That the mere thought of food would have you racing for the nearest bathroom and no matter how close you are, it still feels like it's lightyears away?
That any sou…
