John, McKayla and I went to eat at a little roadside diner the other night for dinner. The server brings our menu and then comes back with this toy, saying that it's from one of their regulars and that they'd left a bunch for the little girls that came in. McKayla had the most astonished look on her face, she's thinking "wait a minute, I don't get toys when we go out to eat.....??????", she almost looked like she couldn't believe it was true. LOL
It tickled me so much that someone was so sweet to pass out toys that I told McKayla that we needed to write them a thank you note for their kindness. So I ripped out a page from my planner and passed it and the pen to McKayla. She wasn't sure what to draw/write so I told her we could keep it simple and write "Thank you" at the top, draw a picture (she drew a flower) and then sign her name at the bottom. (GREAT opportunity to work on writing ;-) ).
When the server came back, I told McKayla to give it to her. I told the server that it was for the person who left the toys but I guess she didn't hear me. She sighed real big and just went on and on about how sweet that was and that she'd never gotten anything like that before........I didn't have the heart to tell her that it wasn't actually for her. She had to come over and get a hug from McKayla, all the while thanking her for it. When we went to pay for our meal, the sever told me again how sweet that was and that she'd put it in her ticket book to keep. :-D
Small towns may be annoying at times but you don't always get the kindness in big cities like you do here. :-)
