Why Guys Are So Cool.......

I found this via The Diaries of a Wimpy Mom and just HAD to share! It's great for a laugh, that's for sure. :-D

Why guys are so cool....

Furry Friday ~ A Nighttime Visitor

Yay! It's another installment of Furry Friday. :-)

Mom's working on a graphic for me (the luck of having a Mom who does graphic design.....if you need someone to build an ad or just some photo work I can hook you up! LOL) and I hope to have that by NEXT Friday's installment.

Today's guest has no name.

I heard him/her one night, smashing against the window repeatedly. I quickly forgot about him until the next morning when I went outside.

He had some how gotten wedged between the window screen (not IN the window) and the house. Poor guy. I rescued him and then got to taking pictures (what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't take pictures?! LOL).

After doing a little digging, I discovered what this guy was called, he's a Polyphemus Moth. I had felt bad for him, trapped all night and not being able to eat but then I found out that he doesn't even have a mouth! The adults don't eat, they just spawn and die. Well, I hope he was able to do that before he go…

God Watches Over Us

I know there are a lot of beliefs and a lot of skepticism about God and what he does but *I* believe that He exists and that He watches out for ALL of us. Things He does may seem insignificant but others are an absolute 'Wow! God really watched out for me today!' kinda feeling.

I have two examples of God watching out for us.

And I'll go ahead and warn you now that this post is LONG on words (and I mean L.O.N.G.) but short on pictures.

The first example pales in comparison to the second one. I've hesitated even putting the two together in this post b/c this first one seems so trivial. So, laughable when compared to the other but in both cases, I KNOW God had a hand in them.

Back near the end of April, we had some nasty storms come through. I've always been scared of tornado watches/warnings but even more so after the tornadoes that came through April 2011. This particular evening, they were calling for the potential of tornadoes and I was on pins and needles (after a…

Road Rage

It affects us all.
When you're feeling rushed and in a hurry, maybe it's time to stop and appreciate the wonder all around you........

......Or risk the wraith of an elephant. LOL
These photos are from Centurion in Pilanesburg Game Reserve, South Africa. The guy in the white Volkswagen was honking, trying to get past the elephant. Maybe he should've enjoyed the scenery more. LOL
(Another e-mail gem, this time from my Dad. :-D)

A New Blog Series: Furry Friday

I've been wanting to do a Blog Series for quite awhile but I couldn't ever think of a catchy name.......until last night.

There I was, sitting in the recliner, watching Golden Girls and thinking blog thoughts.....you know, what I want to blog about next, what story I wanted to share, normal blogger stuff. I was thinking again about a Blog Series name and going through the days of the week and just trying out different ideas.

I had some "requirements":

I wanted it critter related. Furry or feathered. Scaly or not. 4-legged or no legs.I wanted to make it a weekly occurrence.I wanted a theme of sorts, kind of like Wordless Wednesdays, Sunday Stills, Throwback Thursday, etc. And I wanted it to be easy to accomplish on an "off" week.I also wanted it to be something fun and give me an excuse, a push, to keep blogging regularly. And with all that, Furry Friday was born.
I'm still working on the "kinks" and hope to get a series picture made soon to use…

Playing Around

I've done a bit of redecorating on the blog here. I've added some new things, removed some old and rearranged others.

I've also added this little gem at the bottom of each post:

It's for those of us (I'm guilty too LOL) that aren't quite sure what to type/say but want to let a person know they read the blog and enjoyed it or whatnot. Now, all you have to do, if you don't want to type something, is select one of those 3 options or all 3 I guess. :-)
Anyway, I just thought I'd make this short post to let y'all know about the changes. Of course, most of the new changes won't show up on the mobile version.
I do have ONE quick favor of you tho. Could you take, just a teeny tiny amount of your busy time and tell me what you think of my blog? Layout wise that is, of course, if you want to critic the other stuff, that's okay too. LOL How do you like the colors? Is the layout good? Easy to read? The "important" stuff where it's easy to …

ABC's Of Me

I ran across this on a friend's blog, Living a Farmer's Life and thought it'd be fun to play along. :-)
A. Age:  Mid 30's

B. Bed Size: A comfy Queen pillow top mattress on a 4 poster bed. This sucker is so big, I almost have to literally jump into bed.....doesn't help that I'm only about 5'2" Haha.

C. Chore you hate: That would have to be cleaning the bathrooms. With a teenager and a 5 year old, that makes for some messy bathrooms. Ugh.

D. Dogs: Rio, 3 year old Blue Great Dane and Katie, a 12ish year old Boxer-Pit mix.

Radio Made Me Feel Old

On the way home from Six Flags Sunday,  John found a radio station that was playing music we like and they were playing some AWESOME songs!
There we were, both jamming going down the freeway. Belting out the songs like our lives depended on it. Heads jamming, bodies dancing and fingers snapping. Even McKayla was getting in on it, telling us to turn the radio up.
There wasn't a song they played that I DIDN'T know at least some, if not all the words.
And then it happened.
The DJ comes on.
And he says what we're listening to:
Songs from the 90's.
A tribute to Dads weekend.

Songs your Dad played to woo your Mom.
Songs your parents jammed to when they were dating.
Songs your Dad played to get your Mom back after a breakup.
And it hit me.
These 90's songs, the songs I jammed to, the songs I grew up listening to are.....
OLD SONGS now.

Songs our kids are listening to now and calling "oldies".
Yikes.
Thanks radio, for making me feel old.
Thanks a lot.

A Father's Day Adventure

I hope everyone had a FABULOUS weekend and was able to have an adventure or just visit with their Dad in some way or another. Fathers, whether we're speaking of biological, step or some other "father figure" in your life, are such an important part and are often taken for granted. Hug you Daddies closer to you, if your blessed enough to still have them around (I'm one of those :-) Love you Daddy!) and pray for those that don't have their Daddies anymore. And remember that we ALL have a Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally. :-)

Our Father's Day Adventure began with getting up at 6:00 am (yikes!) on Sunday morning and heading down South. (I was slightly bummed that we were missing Church but was happy to hear Pastor Allan's sermon on the radio. It turned out to be LAST Sunday's sermon, one I'd heard in person but it was still nice to hear Pastor Allan preach. :-) )

Where did we go, you ask?

Why, we went to Six Flags Over Georgia! :-D

VBS 2014 ~ Day V

Well today was the 5th and final day of VBS 2014 ~ Agency D3. That means no more VBS posts, which ALSO means no more boring VBS posts since McKayla won't/can't tell me what they do. LOL
I didn't even bother pushing her for details today.
I know she's had fun each time. She's ready and raring to go every morning and she's all smiles when I pick her up. I would have liked to know what she did each day but as long as she had fun and learned, that's all that matters.
I WAS able to find this picture* on the Church's website yesterday and it just shows how much fun she had:

VBS 2014 is down in the books as a success. :-D
*(There was someone there (probably several people actually) taking pictures every day, so I hope to have more to share later.)

VBS 2014 ~ Day IV

McKayla promised me this morning, on the way to VBS, that she'd remember what they did and where they went. I guess me and John harping on her so much all week finally sunk in LOL. I was telling her this morning that I really wanted to know what she did, I wanted to hear about all the fun stuff they do, I wanted to know what they learned about, I wanted to know what songs they sang and where they go after they leave the sanctuary (that's where the meet up in the morning). She promises me that she'll tell me when I pick her up.
So, I go to pick her up.
Can you guess what her answer was when I asked what she did?
I bet you can't! LOL
Well, I pick her up and she shows me the hidden compartment watch she made, I tell her I have a surprise in the Kia for her (I got a CD from church that morning with Agency D3 stuff on it) and we load up in the car.
We're listening to the CD and she goes "Oh! Mommy! I remember what we did after we left the sancturary!" I'm…

VBS 2014 ~ Day III

Today's recap of VBS is pretty much the same as the last two days. So much so, that I should just make today's post a Wordless Wednesday......and I would, if I had any pictures other than the top one. LOL
It seems she thinks it's a game now. Whenever I ask how her day went, she says it was fine. When I start pressing for more details, she tells me she doesn't know. Any question I ask about VBS, the answer I get is always "I don't know". If I then say that she just shouldn't go tomorrow if she's not having fun or doesn't know what she does, then I get a loud NOOOO! I WANT to go!
She DID tell me today that they do sooooo much stuff, it's just hard for her to remember all they do. I guess I'll have to accept that. LOL
I found out yesterday (through Nanny of course since McKayla doesn't know what they do LOL) that they have a VBS Mission's offering every morning. The kids are trying to raise $2,500 to build a bathroom in a church …

VBS 2014 ~ Day II

If you're expecting an action-packed reenactment of McKayla's 2nd day of VBS, I'll stop you right now b/c getting ANY information out of a 5 year old is darn near impossible. LOL
With THAT said, here's the conversation I had with McKayla when I picked her up:
Me: "Did you have a good day?" McKayla: "Yes." Me: "Did you have fun?" McKayla: "Yes." Me: "What did you do today?" McKayla: "I don't remember." <big grin> Me: "You don't remember?! It just happened!" McKayla: "I just forgot." <bigger grin> Me: "Did you have fun?" (Yes, I asked that again.) McKayla: "I don't know." Me: "Well, if you don't know then is there any point in taking you tomorrow?" McKayla: "But I want to!" Me: "Why, if you don't remember what you did and you don't remember if you had fun?" McKayla: "But I DID have fun! And I wanna go back!&q…

VBS 2014

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is in full swing this year.

"Calling agents to Vacation Bible School! We need kid agents who are willing to discover, decide and defend at Agency D3."
Discover clues that point to the truth of the gospel. Decide tobelieve it and be ready to defend your faith.
Today was the first day and McKayla was excited to go.

She puts on her shirt (that Aunt Leslie and Kathleen picked up for her yesterday) and she was raring to go.

Daddy Knows

Saturday, John called me up (he was at work) and said he was thinking about going swimming when he got home. He asked if I felt like heading to Wal*Mart to pick up one of those lounge floats and a few other things. I figured McKayla would jump at the chance to go to Wal*Mart and to go swimming but didn't expect the difficulty I'd run into trying to get her dressed.
I'll just let my Facebook post set the scene:
When did my 5 year old decide to become so freaking PICKY about what she wears?!! She doesn't like that shirt b/c it has buttons. She doesn't like this pair of shorts. She has drawers FULL of clothes but can't ever seem to find anything....unless it's a skirt. Isn't she starting this crap a little early? Ugh.
We spent a good 30 minutes arguing over what she wanted to wear. I'd pull out a shirt and she'd turn it down. I'd pull out a pair of pants and she'd turn THAT down. Everything I suggested, she hated for one reason or another. …

Pre-K Graduation!

Back the middle of May was McKayla's graduation from Pre-K. I can't believe the year is already over. I can't believe my baby is done with her first year of school. :-(
Anyway, I can't stop her from growing up (as much as I'd like to), but I CAN make the best of it, enjoy it and make memories.
Like making something for her teachers. I had wanted to get them something but didn't know what. I bounced around a few ideas with McKayla......she wanted to get them earrings or a necklace.......and finally settled on a home-made, one of a kind gift.
We went to the store and McKayla picked out the picture frames she wanted. We then came home and got to work......well, she did, I just took pictures. :-D
