So I've mentioned Tabby before and it dawned on me the other day that I think I know why she's here.
You see, a few years ago (the exact time frame escapes me although it could be at least 5 years as John thinks this was before McKayla), I was helping an elderly friend trap feral cats and kittens around her house to then take them to be spayed and neutered and then released if they couldn't be "tamed" to find a home.
One particular kitten we caught was a Tabby with white paws. She was fairly young and I was hopeful that I could tame her. She was kept in a cage (large enough for a litter box on one side, a feeding area and a sleeping area).
I did my best to tame her but she was just too wild. Hissing when you walked by her. Hissing and spitting when I went to feed her or scoop her litter box.
She ended up slicing John pretty good one day too.
I can't remember now if she escaped out of the house, if we had taken her back to where she was trapped or if we released her here at our house. But whichever way it happened, she was gone, whether intentional or not.
It's not beyond the realm of possibilities that the Tabby here now is the same Tabby from back then. It would kinda explain why she's chosen this as her home and why she'll talk to me and doesn't immediately bolt when she spots you like some feral cats do.
But if it WAS 5ish years ago, that doesn't explain that large gap. Where was she? Did she somehow make the trek from my friends house to here, even though she'd never been outside here? Was she adopted/found by someone else but never fully tamed and escaped? Has she been around this whole time but just never felt brave enough to show herself? Or is this a totally different cat?
I guess the Tabby mystery will never be truly solved.
